  • Page 4 condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. Table 1 shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere rating.

  • Page 7 SECURE WORK. Always hold workpiece firmly against the work rest. DO NOT USE THE BENCH GRINDER if the flange nut or clamp nut is missing or if the spindle shaft is bent. FREQUENTLY clean grinding dust from beneath grinder. STAY ALERT AND EXERCISE CONTROL. Watch what you are doing and use common sense.
  • Page 8 When working with the tool outdoors, use an extension cord that is designed for outside use. This is indicated by the letters “WA” on the cord’s jacket. Before using an extension cord, inspect it for loose or exposed wires and cut or worn insulation.
  • Page 9 Do not modify the plug provided. If it will not fit the outlet, have the proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. The conductor with insulation having an outer surface that is green with or without yellow stripes is the equipment- grounding conductor.

    DESCRIPTION KNOW THE BENCH GRINDER (Fig. 2) The machine is intended for sharpening tools such as chisels, planer blades, scissors, etc., and for removing rust or corrosion. WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with the grinder to cause carelessness. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient enough to inflict severe injury.
  • Page 11 2. Fasten the safety shield assemblies to the safety shield brackets using the fastening knob and small washer. 3. Attach the safety shield assembly and bracket to the wheel guard using a washer, lock washer and rear shield bracket knob. WARNING: Always spin the wheel by hand before turning on the grinder to make sure the spark deflector doesn’t hit the grinding wheel.

    3. Drill a hole at each of the marked positions. 4. Place the machine on the workbench and insert a bolt with a washer through the mounting holes in the base into each of the holes drilled in the workbench. Make sure the protruding length X (see figure) is at least 15 mm for each of the bolts used.

    MAINTENANCE Before each use, inspect the grinder, switch and cord for damage. Check for damaged, missing, or worn parts. Check for loose screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, or any other conditions that may affect the operation. If abnormal vibration or noise occurs, turn the tool off immediately and have the problem corrected before further use.
