PRODUCT OVERVIEW

JL Audio Gotham subwoofers combine two state-of-the-art JL Audio
subwoofer drivers and an electronics/amplifi er package within a highly
optimized enclosure to deliver an exceptional listening experience in your home
theater or home audio system.
Th e subwoofer drivers in your Gotham subwoofer system are capable of
exceptional linear excursion without distress or audible distortion. Th ese
exceptional drivers enable your Gotham to reproduce powerful low-frequency
events with stunning impact and unprecedented accuracy. Derived from JL
Audio's legendary W7 design platform, the Gotham drivers off er peak-to-peak
excursion capabilities well in excess of 3 inches (76mm) to comfortably handle
the dynamics of the most demanding program material.
To get the most from this long excursion driver platform, prodigious amounts
of controlled power are needed. Our electronics engineering team conducted an
intense analysis of typical program material and its dynamic demands in order
to balance current draw and actual output power requirements relative to the
system's impedance characteristics. Aft er careful study, a precisely engineered
switching amplifi er employing patented feedback technology was created. Th is
advanced design is capable of unclipped output voltage equivalent to 3800 watts
of RMS power when referenced to the nominal loudspeaker impedance, allowing
us to take full advantage of the drivers' full excursion envelope.
Th e beautiful cabinet enclosing the workings of your Gotham is also the result
of careful engineering. To contain the pressures created by the Gotham driver, we
utilize massive, fi berglass construction with extensive internal bracing features
and advanced assembly techniques.
Your listening room is the other enclosure that aff ects the way your bass will
sound. All rooms create a specifi c sonic signature, which must be eff ectively
managed to achieve well-balanced low frequency performance. To aid in this
process, the Gotham includes an extensive set of signal processing tools aimed
at optimizing your Gotham's performance within your listening space. Th ese
features include JL Audio's exclusive Automatic Room Optimization system.
