If knocking or pinging occurs, use a differ-
ent brand of gasoline or premium unlead-
ed fuel. Unleaded fuel will give you
longer spark plug life and reduced main-
tenance cost. If unleaded gasoline is not
available, then leaded regular gasoline
can be used. If leaded gasoline is usually
used, engine valves and related parts
should be inspected after every 300 hours
of operation.
Gasohol
There are two types of gasohol: gasohol
containing ethanol and that containing
methanol. Gasohol containing ethanol
can be used if ethanol content does not
exceed 10% and the fuel meets minimum
octane ratings. Gasohol containing
methanol is not recommended by Yama-
ha because it can cause fuel system dam-
age or engine performance problems.

Use only new clean gasoline which has
been stored in clean containers and is not
contaminated with water or foreign mat-
ter.
