Installation of the CPU and Fan Heat Sink Before installing the CPU, please comply with the following conditions: Please make sure that the motherboard supports the CPU. Dual Channel Memory Configuration The GA-K8NXP-SLI supports the Dual Channel Technology. After operating the Dual Channel Technology, the bandwidth of Memory Bus will double. Due to CPU limitation, if you want to operate the Dual Channel Technology, please follow the guidelines below for Dual Channel memory configuration.
Installation of Expansion Cards You can install your expansion card by following the steps outlined below: Read the related expansion card's instruction document before install the expansion card into the computer. Remove your computer's chassis cover, screws and slot bracket from the computer. Press the expansion card firmly into expansion slot in motherboard.
Installation of K8DPS (Dual Power System) What is K8DPS? K8DPS (Dual Power System) is a daughter card which can provide you the Dual Power System function. SLI Mode: In SLI Mode, the two PCIE x 16 slots can run in two modes. III. Supported Operating Systems: Only Windows XP operating system is currrently supported by the NVIDIA SLI technology. Enabling SLI Mode-- Follow the steps below to enable SLI Mode. Note that as the switch module is inserted in the socket in the Normal Mode direction by factory default, the first step to enable SLI mode on your system is to take out the module from the socket and insert it in the SLI Mode direction.

Step 2: Insert the SLI bridge (the GC-SLICON) to the SLI gold edge connector on top of both cards. Make sure the two mini female slots on the bridge connector se- curely fit onto the SLI gold edge connetors of both cards.

3/4/5) CPU_FAN / SYS_FAN/ PWR_FAN (Cooler Fan Power Connector) The cooler fan power connector supplies a +12V power voltage via a 3-pin power connector and possesses a foolproof connection design. Most coolers are designed with color-coded power connector wires. A red power connector wire indicates a positive connection and requires a +12V power voltage.

7) FDD (FDD Connector) The FDD connector is used to connect the FDD cable while the other end of the cable connects to the FDD drive. The types of FDD drives supported are: 360KB, 720KB, 1.2MB, 1.44MB and 2.88MB. 17) F1_1394/F2_1394 (IEEE 1394 Connectors) Serial interface standard set by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, which has features like high speed, high bandwidth and hot plug. Be careful with the polarity of the IEEE1394 connector. Updating BIOS with Q-Flash Utility on Dual BIOS Motherboards. Some of Gigabyte motherboards are equipped with dual BIOS. In the BIOS menu of the motherboards supporting Q-Flash and Dual BIOS, the Q-Flash utility and Dual BIOS utility are combined in the same screen.

4-1-4 Serial ATA BIOS Setting Utility Introduction RAID Levels RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is a method of combining two hard disk drives into one logical unit. The advantage of an Array is to provide better performance or data fault tolerance. Fault tolerance is achieved through data redundant operation, where if one drives fails, a mirrored copy of the data can be found on another drive.
