Safety instructions

The following safety instructions should be read and observed before using the battery charging
device to avoid injury to the user and damage to the device.

Intended use

The charging device is only to be used to charge lead acid batteries with a nominal voltage of 6
volts or 12 volts and a capacity of 7-180 Ah. It should not be used to charge NiCd or NiMH
batteries and other non-rechargeable batteries.
Only use the charging device in enclosed places.
Keep children and bystanders away from your work area.
Do not use the charging device in a damp or wet environment.
Make sure that you have sufficient lighting.
Do not place the charging device in direct sunlight, rain or snow.
Do not use the charging device near explosive gases or liquids.
Wear appropriate work clothes.
Store the charging device in a dry, safe place out of the reach of children.
Do not carry the charging device by the cable and do not pull on the cable to remove the
plug from the power socket. Protect the cable from sources of heat, oil and sharp edges.
Check that the charging device and all cables are in good condition before use.
Have damaged cables replaced by an approved service centre.
Do not attempt to carry out any repairs yourself.
In the event of non-use, the charging device should always be disconnected from the mains
supply.
Avoid any reciprocal contact with crocodile clips at all costs as soon as the charging device
is connected to the mains supply. Risk of short-circuiting!
Combustible gases develop during the charging of lead acid batteries. Naked flames should
therefore be avoided.
Only use the charging device in a well ventilated area.
First of all, always connect the crocodile clips to the battery terminals before plugging the
charging device into the mains supply.
To terminate the charging process, pull out the power plug and then remove the crocodile clips
from the battery terminals.
Keep battery acids away from clothing or skin. If contact does occur, rinse the affected areas
thoroughly with water. In the event of eye contact, medical assistance should be sought
immediately.
