    How Your Humidifier Works Your new evaporative humidifier is designed to satisfy home humidity requirements through the principle of evaporation of water into the air. Once the wick becomes saturated, air is drawn in, passes through the wick and moisture is absorbed into the air. All evaporation occurs in the humidifier so any residue remains in the wick.
  • Page 5 Set Up and Location Unpack humidifier from carton and remove all packaging material from the box. NOTE: This unit has a natural stone (marble) tile inset. Take care when removing the marble tile from the package, as it is breakable and heavy. Lift up the chassis (upper cabinet) to locate the casters and manual.

    FILLING INFORMATION Open the fill door on the front of the unit. Using a pitcher, carefully pour water into the water fill door. NOTE: Reservoir holds 3.5 gallons. Do not over-fill unit, as leaks may occur. NOTE: On initial fill up, it will take approximately 20 minutes for the reservoir to fill because the dry wick has to absorb water.

    HUMIDITY CONTROL NOTE: The EP9 500 / EP9R 500 units have an automatic humidistat located on the cord that measures the relative humidity in the room. When the selected humidity level drops 3% below the relative humidity, the humidifier cycles on and off as required to maintain the selected setting.

    REMOTE CONTROL INSTRUCTIONS (EP9R 500) If your unit has the remote control, or if you have purchased the remote control, Model 1999, you have the option of controlling your humidifier functions from a distance. To Turn the Remote on: With both the humidifier and remote control OFF, Press the I/O button on the remote control once.

    Wick Replacement The EP9 500 / EP9R 500 use the 1043 Super Wick. Always use the original Essick brand wick to maintain your unit and maintain your warranty. First, remove any items on top of the pedestal and remove the natural stone tile and place in a safe location.

    We also recommend using Essick Air Bacteriostat Treatment each time you refill your humidifier to eliminate bacterial growth. Add bacteriostat according to the instructions on the bottle. Please call 1-800-547-3888 to order Bacteriostat Treatment reference part number 1970.
