• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 for the POWER 750 Express Server, or later,
with current maintenance updates available from Novell to enable all planned
functionality
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3 for the Power 750 Express Server,
with current maintenance updates available from Novell to enable all planned
functionality

If installing VIOS:
• VIOS 2.1.2.11 with Fix Pack 22.1 and Service Pack 1, or later
Java 1.4.2 on POWER7
There are unique considerations when running Java 1.4.2 on POWER7. For
best exploitation of the outstanding performance capabilities and most recent
improvements of POWER7, IBM recommends upgrading Java-based applications to
Java 6 or Java 5 whenever possible.

Limitations
System
• When an HMC is connected to the system, the integrated system ports are
rendered nonfunctional. In this case, the customer must install an asynchronous
adapter for serial port usage.
• Integrated system ports are not supported under AIX or Linux when the HMC
ports are connected to an HMC. Either the HMC ports or the integrated system
ports can be used, but not both.
