Line Level Volume Control
The RCLL-1L line level remote volume control is a versatile means of
controlling the volume of a line level source. It typically connects between
a source and an amplifier. The level may be controlled three ways: Using
the included IR eye, from a remote location using an infrared repeating
system, or manually with a knob at the front of the unit. It has the ability to
learn commands for volume up, down, and mute from most consumer
remote controls (not included). It is powered by a supplied 12 volt power
adaptor.
Follow the wiring diagram on the back of this sheet, using RCA cables (not
included) fr

the RCLL-1 to the source and amplifier. To use a remote
control in the same room as the RCLL-1, plug the included IR eye into the
EYE
jack on the back of the unit, and mount it in a location here it can see
the remote. To connect an optional infrared repeating system, connect the signal and ground wires of the system to
the binding posts, paying attention to polarity: signal to red, ground to black. Set the volume control on the front
to about mid range, then connect the included power supply to the jack on the rear and plug it into an AC outlet.
The RCLL-1L is preprogrammed to work with Proscan amplifier commands. If you have a remote that can send
these commands, skip to the section on OPERATION.
To program the RCLL-1L for specific remote commands, first decide what keys on your remote you want to use
for Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute. They probably shouldn't be buttons you use for another device so that
commands meant for that device won't control the RCLL-1L and vice versa.
To place the RCLL-1L in learning mode, disconnect the power from the back of the unit, get your remote ready,
and plug the power back in. Within 5 seconds press the key for volume up, volume down, mute, volume up
(again), volume down (again), and Mute (again).
Test your keys for proper function. If they don't work as desired, repeat the learn process.
Learn mode is indicated by a lowered volume level, and will cancel if:
Ÿ
You take longer than 5 seconds to press the next key
Ÿ
The key sequence is wrong, such as a key held down too long and registered twice
Ÿ
The volume up, volume down, and mute sequence isn't repeated
If you have problems after several tries at programming, your remote (or function keys) may be incompatible.
Try a different key, mode, or remote.
Learned commands (including factory programmed Proscan commands) are saved until new commands are
programmed.

  • Page 2 Many modern TVs have a fixed audio level from their line level outputs. Using these TVs with an external amp means that the TV’s remote no longer works. Install the RCLL-1L between the TV and the amp, and program it to respond to the TV’s Volume and Mute remote commands to restore this function.
