Turning the Camera on and Off

Shooting Mode

Shooting Mode
To turn the camera on, open the lens cover ful-
ly. The camera turns off when the lens cover is
closed.

2 Tip: Switching to Playback Mode
Touch the a icon to start playback. Press the shutter
button halfway to return to shooting mode.
3 Cautions
• Pictures can be aff ected by fi ngerprints and other
marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.
• Closing the cover does not completely cut power to
the camera.
2 Tip: Auto Power Off
The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the
M AUTO POWER OFF menu (pg. 75). To turn the camera on, close and reopen the lens cover or press the p
button for about a second.

Playback Mode

Playback Mode
If the lens cover is closed, the camera can be
turned on in playback mode by pressing the
p button for about a second.
Camera off
Press the p button for about a second to turn the
camera off .
2 Tip: Switching to Shooting Mode
To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button
halfway. Touch the a icon to return to playback.
3 Caution
The indicator lamp lights when the camera is turned
off . Do not remove the battery while the lamp is lit.
The camera can not be turned on again until the lamp
turns off .
