Warning Messages and Displays

The following warnings are displayed in the monitor:
Warning Warning
B (red) Low battery.
A (blinks red)
Battery exhausted.
k Slow shutter speed. Picture may be blurred. Use the fl ash or mount the camera on a tripod.

The camera can not focus.

Aperture or shutter The subject is too bright or too dark. The pic-
speed displayed in red ture will be over- or under-exposed.
Attempted to take photograph with lens
LENS COVER
cover closed.
FOCUS ERROR
ZOOM ERROR Camera malfunction.
LENS CONTROL ERROR
No memory card inserted when using folder
NO CARD
management.
The memory card or internal memory is not
formatted.
CARD NOT INITIALIZED
The memory card contacts require cleaning.

Charge the battery or insert a fully-charged spare bat-
tery.
• Use focus lock to focus on another subject at the
same distance, then recompose the picture (pg. 38).
• If the subject is poorly lit, try focusing at a distance of
about 2 m (6 ft. 7 in.).
• Use macro mode to focus when taking close-ups.
If the subject is dark, use the fl ash.
Open lens cover before taking photographs.
Turn the camera off and then on again, taking care not
to touch the lens. If the message persists, contact a
FUJIFILM dealer.
Insert a memory card.
Format the memory card or internal memory (pg. 90).
Clean the contacts with a soft, dry cloth. If the mes-
sage is repeated, format the memory card (pg. 90). If
the message persists, replace the memory card.
