    User Manual page 14 3. Connecting to Your Ethernet Disk mini Home There are several ways to connect to HipServ to save or retrieve your media. Choose the method that works best for you and the way you like to use your computer.

    The first time you use your Ethernet Disk mini Home Edition, you’ll probably want to transfer your digital library from your computer to the Ethernet Disk mini. The fastest and easiest way to do this is to open an Windows Explorer window or a Mac Finder window and simply drag and drop files from your computer to your Ethernet Disk mini.

    3.2. LaCie Media Portal The LaCie Media Portal web interface is the most common and most universal method of connectivity for web-enabled devices. Combined with HipServ’s whenever, wherever capability, the experience at home is the similar to the experience on the road, whether you’re using a laptop computer or a web-enabled cellular phone (cell phone service available with premium service only).

    ■ 4.4.1. Sharing Folders The Ethernet Disk mini makes it easy to share folders with people on the Internet. You can control what information you publish on the Internet using the Ethernet Disk mini sharing facilities. You can only share folders, not individual files; when a folder’s sharing state is set, all files within that folder acquire the same sharing state, so make sure you’re prepared to share everything within a shared folder.
