CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR W ARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS
The C alifornia Air Resources Board and M TD C onsumer Group Inc are pleased toexplain the evaporative emission control system warranty on your 2008 l awn
mower. InCalifornia, new lawn m ower must be designed, built and equipped tomeet the State's stringent anti-smog standards. MTD C onsumer Group Inc must
warrant the EECS onyour lawn m ower for t he period oftime l isted below p rovided there h as b een noabuse, neglect orimproper maintenance ofyour lawn m ower.
Your EECS may i nclude parts such a s the carburetor, fuel-injection system, the ignition system, catalytic converter, fuel tanks, fuel lines, fuel caps, valves,
canisters, filters, vapor hoses, clamps, connectors, and other associated emission-related components.
Where awarrantable condition exists, MTD C onsumer Group Inc will r epair your l awn m ower atnocost toyou including diagnosis, parts a nd labor.
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY COVERAGE:
This e vaporative emission control system iswarranted for t wo years. Ifany e vaporative emission-related part onyour equipment isdefective, the part will b e
repaired orreplaced by MTD C onsumer Group Inc.
OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the lawn m ower owner, you are responsible for p erformance ofthe required maintenance listed inyour owner's manual. MTD C onsumer Group Inc r ecom-
mends that you retain all r eceipts covering maintenance on your lawn m ower, but M TD C onsumer Group Inc c annot deny warranty solely for t he lack o freceipts.
As the lawn m ower owner, you should however be aware that MTD C onsumer Group Inc may deny y ou warranty coverage ifyour lawn m ower orapart has f ailed
due t oabuse, neglect, or improper maintenance orunapproved modifications.
You a re responsible for p resenting your lawn m ower toMTD C onsumer Group Inc's distribution center orservice center as soon as the problem exists. The
warranty repairs should be completed inareasonable amount oftime, not toexceed 30days. Ifyou have aquestion regarding your warranty coverage, you should
contact the MTD C onsumer Group Inc S ervice Department at1-800-800-7310.
GENERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY COVERAGE:
MTD C onsumer Group Inc w arrants tothe ultimate purchaser and each subsequent purchaser that the lawn m ower is: D esigned, built and e quipped so as to
conform with a ll a pplicable regulations; and f ree f rom defects inmaterials and workmanship that cause the failure ofawarranted part tobe identical inall m aterial
respects tothat part as described inMTD C onsumer Group Inc's application for c ertification.
The w arranty period begins on the date t he lawn m ower isdelivered toanultimate purchaser orfirst placed into service. The w arranty period istwo years.
Subject tocertain conditions and exclusions as stated below, the warranty on emission-related parts isas follows:
1. Any w arranted part that isnot scheduled for r eplacement as required maintenance inthe written instructions supplied, iswarranted for t he warranty period
stated above. Ifthe part fails d uring the period ofwarranty coverage, the part will berepaired orreplaced by MTD C onsumer Group Inc according tosubsection
(4) b elow. Any s uch p art repaired orreplaced under warranty will bewarranted for t he remainder ofthe period.
2. Any w arranted part that isscheduled only f or r egular inspection inthe written instructions supplied iswarranted for t he warranty period stated above. Any s uch
part repaired orreplaced under warranty will b e warranted for t he remaining warranty period.
3. Any w arranted part that isscheduled for r eplacement asrequired maintenance inthe written instructions supplied iswarranted for t he period oftime b efore the
first scheduled replacement date f or t hat part. Ifthe part fails b efore the first scheduled replacement, the part will berepaired orreplaced by MTD C onsumer
Group Inc according tosubsection (4) b elow. Any s uch p art repaired orreplaced under warranty will be warranted for t he remainder ofthe period prior tothe
first scheduled replacement point for t he part.
4. Repair orreplacement ofany w arranted part under the warranty provisions herein must be performed atawarranty station atnocharge tothe owner.
5. Notwithstanding the provisions herein, warranty services or repairs will b e provided atall o four d istribution centers that are franchised toservice the subject
engines orequipment.
6. The l awn m ower owner will not b e charged for d iagnostic labor that isdirectly associated with d iagnosis ofadefective, emission-related warranted part,
provided that such d iagnostic work isperformed atawarranty station.
7. MTD C onsumer Group Inc isliable for d amages toother engine orequipment components proximately caused by afailure under warranty ofany w arranted
part.
8. Throughout the lawn m ower warranty period stated above, MTD C onsumer Group Inc w ill m aintain asupply ofwarranted parts sufficient tomeet the expected
demand for s uch p arts.
9. Any r eplacement part may b eused inthe performance ofany w arranty maintenance or repairs and must beprovided without charge tothe owner. Such use will
not reduce the warranty obligations ofMTD C onsumer Group Inc.
10. Add-on ormodified parts that are not exempted by the Air Resources Board may n ot b e used. The u se ofany non-exempted add-on ormodified parts by the
ultimate purchaser will be grounds for d isallowing awarranty claims. MTD C onsumer Group Inc w ill n ot beliable towarrant failures ofwarranted parts caused
by the use ofanon-exempted add-on ormodified part.
WARRANTED PARTS:
The r epair orreplacement ofany w arranted part otherwise eligible for w arranty coverage may b e excluded from such w arranty coverage ifMTD C onsumer Group
Inc demonstrates that the lawn m ower has b een a bused, neglected, orimproperly maintained, and t hat such a buse, neglect, orimproper maintenance was t he
direct cause ofthe need forrepair orreplacement ofthe part. That notwithstanding, any a djustment ofacomponent that has a factory installed, and properly
operating, adjustment limiting device isstill eligible for w arranty coverage. The f ollowing emission warranty parts list a re covered: Fuel Line, Fuel Line C lamps
