ff you ere having problems with your product, check this list of problems and possible solutions before
requesting service.You may be able to solve the problem yourself.
If you need to call a customer service representative, please know the model number and serial number of
your product before you call.This information is displayed on the back of the productAIso, please take a

Location
For safeoperationand satisfactory performance of your'l'V/VCR,remember the following.
• Shieldit from direct sunlight a nd keep it awayfrom sourcesof intenseheat
• Avoid dustyor humidplaces.
• Avoid places with insufficient ventilation. Do not blockthe ventilationopenings at the top and bottom of
the TV/VCR. [3o not placethe TV/VCR on a carpet,as this will blockthe ventilationopenings.
• Avoid locations subiectto strongvibrations.
• [3o not placethe'I'V/VCR near strongmagnetic fields.
• Do not movetheTV/VCR from a cold placeto a hot place,or vice versa.
Electrical
Shock and Fire Hazards
• [30 not handlethe power cord with wet hands.
• Do not pull the power cord when disconnecting t heTV/VCR from theAC (alternating current) wall outlet
Grasp it bythe plug.
• If water isspilledon the'I-V/VCR, unplug the power cord immediately andtake the TV/VCR to an autho-
rized service center.
• Do not put your fingersor objectsinto the'I'V/VCR cassette compartment.
• Do not place anything o_ top of theTVNCR.
DewWarning
(Moisture Condensation)
• Moisture maycondense inside the unit when it ismovedfrom a cold placeto a warm place, a fter heatinga
cold room, or when the humidity is high.Thereis no warning that moisture hasaccumulated in your
"I-V/VCR. If you try to playa tape in a TV/VCR in which moisture hasaccumulated, the tape andthe
"I-V/VCRcould be damaged. I f you think moisture may haveaccumulated insidethe'I-V/VCR, keep the
TVNCR power on (but do not playa tape) for at leasttwo hours.Thiswill allowthe'rV/VCR to dry.
TV/VCR will not perform a timer recording.
• Hake surethe recording start and stop times are set correctly.Details are on pages34-37. Midnight is 12
a.m.Noon is 12 p.m.
• Make sure the'I'V/VCR power isoff.
• Make sure the clock isset.Detailsareon pages12-17.
• Make sure there isa tape in the'l'V/VCR.The tape must havea record tab.
• With ShowGuard, y ou don't haveto worry aboutlosingyour timer recordings.If the powerfails,pro-
grammedtimer recordings will be restored when the clock isreset. (The clock will reset itselfautomatical-
ly if you are usingthe AUTO CLOCK feature.Details are on pages14-17. Ifyou are not usingthe AUTO
CLOCK feature,reset the clockmanually. Details are on pages/2-13.) The timer recording will not occur
only if the timer recording was scheduled to take placeduringthe power failure.
• Make sure DEFEATRECORDING is set to OFEDetailsare on page33.
TV/VCR will not record.
• Make sure the tape hasa record tab. Detailsare on page five.
• Make sure DEFEATRECORDING is set to OFEDetailsare on page 33.
• Plugthe power cord into an activeAC outlet. Detailsare on pageseven.
• Check your hookups.Detailsare on pagessix-seven.
• Set up the channels.Detailsare on page 10.
