    550 stations in the 50 states and near adjacent coastal waters, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the U.S. Pacific Territories. The WX-17 Emergency Alert Radio receives all of the seven NOAA channels. (NOTE: You have to select the correct weather channel in order to receive warnings for the state/county in which you are located).

    The radio must be in ALERT mode to receive the NOAA Alert signal. Choosing A Location For Installation The WX-17 is designed for portable operation. In portable and non-portable operations, the best location is the one that can clearly receive the NOAA weather broadcast.

    WX-17 Manual 3/7/02 11:25 AM Page 6 Installation Installing/replacing the batteries The Emergency Alert Radio is designed to use 4 AA batteries (not included) as its primary power source. To install batteries: - Press down and slide down the battery compartment door.

    WX-17 Manual 3/7/02 11:25 AM Page 7 4. DC Jack: Allows use of 120V AC to DC wall adapter (included) to save battery power. 5. Speaker: Large speaker for great sound in a small radio. 6. Telescopic Antenna: Fully extend the antenna and position for best reception of FM and WX signals.
