Framing
Frame in the enclosure for the unit with framing materials. The

framed opening for the assembled fireplace is 60" wide, x 39" high
x 23 3/4" deep, see Figure 2
NOTE: When constructing the framed opening, please ensure
there is access to install the gas line when the unit is installed.

Frame the fireplace cavity according to Figure 2.
Slide the fireplace into the cavity. Tack four studs (Vertical) in place
as shown in Figure 2a. Secure the fireplace in position by nailing into
these cleats. (Minimum 2" clearance must still be maintained around
the vent pipes.)

Clearances

These clearances apply to all dimensions except the framed opening,
where the clearance to combustibles is 0". The L52DF-ST clearance to
unprotected combustible walls which are perpendicular to the fireplace
opening, must not project beyond the shaded area shown in Fig. 24.
For protection against freezing temperatures, it is recommended that
outer walls of the chase be insulated with a vapor barrier. This will reduce
the possibility of a cold-air convection current on the fireplace.
