ARNING:When removing cutting
blade for sharpening or replacement,
protect your hands with a pair of heavy
gloves or use a heavy rag to hold blade.
1, Disconnectsparkplug wire fromspark plug,Turn
moweron its side makingsurethat the air filter and
the carburetorare up,
2, Removebolt, bladebell support,blade,and blade
adapterfromthe enginecrankshaft,See Figure5,
3, The bladecan be sharpenedwith a file or on a grind=
ing wheel Do notattemptto sharpenthe blade while
it is still on the mower,Whensharpeningblade,follow
originalangle of grind,Grind cuttingedgesequallyto
keepblade balanced,
4, Removeblade fromthe adapterfor testingbalance,
Balancethe bladeon a roundshaftscrewdriver to
check, Removemetalfrom the heavyside untilit
balancesevenly,

5, Lubricatetheenginecrankshaftand the inner surface
of the bladeadapterwith lightoil Slidethe blade
adapterontotheengine crankshaft, P lacethe blade

"Bottom"(or with part number)facesthe groundwhen
the moweris in the operatingposition,Makesurethat
bladeis alignedand seatedon bladeadapterflanges,
6, Placeblade bell supporton the blade,Align notches
on the bladebell support with smallholesin blade,
Replacehexbolt and tightenhex boltto torque: 450
in, Ibs,rain,,600 in, Ibs,max,
Toensuresafe operationof yourmower,periodically
checkthe blade boltfor correcttorque,

1, Removetwo shoulderscrewssecuringfrontdrive
coverto mowerdeck, See Figure6, Pressinwardon
sides of front drivecoverand releasetabs that secure
it to the heightadiusterbrackets,Removedrive cover
from mower,
2, Loosenscrewholdingbelttensionspringto trans=
mission,See Figure6 inset,Donot removescrew
completely,As you loosenit, tensionon the belt will be
released,

4, Replacewith newbelt, workingaroundblade,Make
surebelt is firmlyseatedon engine pulleywhile
pullingfrom the othersideand slidingit aroundthe
transmissionpulley,Tightenscrewloosenedearlier

Reassemble front drivecover,
3, Pushtransmissionup a little and slidebelt off the
transmissionpulley,Lift mowerto access beltfrom
undersideof mower,Slide beltoff of engine pulleyand
aroundthe blade,See Figure7,
