Severe hum or noise is heard.
• Chc_k thal the speakers and components are
connected securely,
• Check that the connecting cord_ are away from a
tl'_ns_rmer or motor, and at least 3 metres ( I 0
feet) away from your T¥ set or a fluorescen_ light.
• Move your TV away from the audio components.
• The plugs and j_cks are dirty. Wipe them with a
cloth slightly moistened with alcohol.
• Clean file disc.
The sound loses stereo effect when you play a
VIDEO CD, a CD, or an MP3.
• gel "AUDIO" to "STEREO" in file Conwol Menu
display (page 45).
• Make sure the system is connected approprimely.
The surround effect is difficult to hear when
you are playing a Dolby Digital, DTS, or MPEG
audio sound track.
• Make sure the sound field |hnction is on
(page 47).
• Check the speaker connections and settings (pages
23, 70).
• Depending on the DVD, the output signal may no1
be the entire 5.1 channel. It may be monaurM or
stereo even if the sound tr_ck is recorded in Dolby
Digital or MPEG audio format.
The sound co_es fror_ the centre Speaker
only.
• Depending on the disc, the sound may come |Yore
the centre speaker only.
NO sound is heard from the centre spearer.
• Cheek the speaker connections arid settings.
• Make sure the sound field |hncfion is on
(page 47).
NO sound or only a very low-level sound is
heard from the surround speakers.
• Check the speaker connections mid settings (pages
23, 70).
• Make sure the sound field thnction is on
(page 47).
• Select a s_m_d _ield c_t _ining thee wo_d "C. ST.
EX" (page 48).
• Depending on tile source, the efthct of the
surround speaker_ may be less noticeable.
Operation
Radio stations cannot be tuned _n.
• Check that the anlennas are comlected securely.
Adjust the antennas or connect an external
antenna if necessary.
• The signal strenglh of the stations is too weak
(when ttming in with automatic tmdng). Use direct
tuoing.
• No stations have been preset or the preset stations
have been cleared (when tuning by scanning
preset stations). Preset file stadons (page 60).
• Press DISPLAY so that the freqltency appears in
the display.
The remote does not function.
• There are obstacles between tile remote and tile
system.
• The dislance belween the remote and _he system is
too Par.
• The remote is nol pointed al the remote sensor on
the system.
• The baltedes in the remote are weak.
The disc does not play.
• There is no disc inserted.
• The disc is upside down.
Insert the disc with lhe playback side Pacing down
on the disc tray.
• The disc is _kewed in the system.
• The system cannot play CD-ROMs, e_e. (page 8).
• The region code on the DVD does not match the
system,
• Moisture has condensed inside the system.
Rmnove the disc and leave the system turned on
for about half an hour (page 3).
The MP3 Budio track cannot be played.
• The DATA CD is not recorded in an MP3 formal
that conforms to [SO96fi0 Level 1/Level 2 or
Joliet.
• The MP3 audio track does not llave 1be extension
".MP3."
• The data is no_ formatted in MP3 even though it
has the extension ".MP3?'
• The system can only play MP3 (MPEG1 Audio
Layer3) audio.
• Remove the disc mid select "CUSTOM SETUP"
from the setup itel'as. Then select "DATA CD
PRIORITY" and set to "MP3" again.
• Directory level is more than 8.
