TheFUNCTIONmenu lets you set advanced setUngs,such as
menu language, noise reduction, and closed captioning.
Pressthe up and down arrow buttons to seEect a n item, and
then pressthe right arrow button to change it.
LANGUAGE Letsyou seEect y our preferred language fur the
rrlenus.
B4CKGROUNO Turns on or off the background function
when no signal is received(only when using Video Input
Channel_.
BLACK STRETCH Turns on or off the black stretch function,
Improves contrast so that near black images become a truer
black.
NOISEREDUCE Turns noise reduction on and oft.
CLOSE C4PTION Many programs are encoded with closed-
captioning information, which lets you display the audio
portion of a program astext on the IV screen.
Closed captioning is not available on all channels at all times.
0nly specific programs encoded with closed-captioning
information are applicable. When a program is closed
capUoned, CCis displayed in the channel bannel: Go to
Chapter 3 for more information about the channel banner.

Lets you choose when dosed captioning
information is shown on the screen.
Off
No captioning information displayed.
On Captioning information always appears, when
available.
CCMode
Choose which captioning
mode is used for
displaying captioning
information,
if you are unsure of
the differences
among the modes, you may prefer to
leave the closed captioned
mode set to CC1, which
displays complete text of the program in the primary
language in your area.
CCONMUTE When turned on, automatically brings
up close captioning when the MUTEbutton is pressed.
