Parental Controls
The Parental (.bnin'ok menu allows you to program your TV so that children
cannot see certain programs,
channels, or use the buttons on the fi'ont of the TV.
The Parc'ntal (,bnlv*olsnlenu controls the software inside your TV (referred to as
V-Chip) which lets you program your TV so it won't display certain programs
and
movies based on violence, sex, or other content
you may believe children should
not view. Once you block programs,
you or other adults call unblock programs by
entering
a password to unlock video or enter the password to edit the features ill
tl'le Par_'ntal (,bntro/s menu. By default, the software inside your TV is turned "o_}."
so if you don't want to use this feature, ?<m call just ignore it.

The Lock/Unlock

option lets you lock and unlock the parental controls and channel lists using a
password.
If the TV is locked when watching TV, you only see the channels that

How V-Chip Works
for the USA and Canada
V-Chip reads the progranl's age-based rating
(TV-MA,
TV-14,
etc.) and content
themes [(Violence
(V),
Adult
Language
(L), etc.)]. If you have blocked the rating and/or content
themes that the pr%ram
contains, you will
receive the message telling you that the pr%ram
is blocked from viewing.
Broadcasters
are not required to provide content
thenies, so programs
received with no content
themes will
only be blocked if you block their age-based rating. You call also block out programs
