Using Closed Captioning
Closed-captioning information lets you display the audio portion of a program as text on the IV screen.
Closed captioning is not available on all channels at all times, Only specific programs encoded with closed-
captioning information are applicable. When a program is closed captioned, theCC icon is displayed in the
channel banne_See Chapter 3 for more information about the channel banner
Closed-Caption Modes
The 1V offers eight closed-captioned modes, including four text
modes.
To set the Closed-Caption Mode:
I. Select Screen from the Main menu.
2. Highlight Closed-Caption Mode and press OK (the Closed-
Caption Mode appears),
3. Highlight your choice and press OK (theScreen menu
appears again),
Note: TheTextmodescover nearly half of thepicture on the
screento disploy the dosed-captioned text. Most broadcasters
use the CCmode, which disploys o few lines ot o time.
Turning off Closed-Caption
I. Select Screen from the Main menu,
2. Press OK to select Closed-Caption Displuy
3. Highlight Off Always and press OK. The closed captioning is
turned off and you go back to theScreen menu.
Channel Menu
Signal Type Displaysa choice list that lets you select the
current antenna type. This option does not appear when the
GUIDE Plus+ system is set up.
UHFiVNFAntenne Choose this if you are currently using an
of Dair antenna for IV signals,
Cable IV Choose this if you are currently using cable or a
cabte box for IV signals.
Auto Channel Search Tells the IV to search automatically for
all the channels available through the antenna input. When the
IV finds an active channel, it places it in the Normal channel list;
inactive channels {weak stations or channels with no signal at
all) wilt be removed from the channel list. If you are using a
cable box and have set up the GUIDE Plus+ system, this option
does not appea_
