theappliance s hould not hesituated on a bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surface that may blockthe ventilation openings; or, placedin a
built-in installation, suchasa bookcase o r cabinet thatmayimpede
theflowofairthrough theventilation openings.

Heat- Theappliance should be situated awayfrom heatsources
such as radiators,heat registers, stoves,or otherappliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduceheat.
10. Power Sources - The appliance s houldhe connected t o a power
supply onlyofthetypedescribed i n theoperating i nstructions oras
markedontheappliance.
11. Power-cardProtection- Powersupply cordsshould be routed so
thattheyarenot likely to bewalked on or pinched byitemsplaced
uponor againstthem, paying particular a ttention to cordsand
plugs, convenience receptacles, andthe point where theyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance should becleaned onlyas recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- An outdoor antenna shouldbe located awayfrom
powerlines.
14. Outdoor Antenna Gzeundlng - If anoutside antenna i sconnected t o
the receiver, b e surethe antennasystemis grounded so as to
provide someprotection a gainst v oltage surges and builtupstatic
charges.
Section 810 ofthe National Electric C ede, A NSI/NFPA No.70-1984,
provides i nformation withrespect to proper grounding o f themats
and supporting structuregrounding of the lead-inwire to an
antennadischarge u nit,sizeof grounding c onnectors, location of
antenna-discharge
unit, connection t o grounding electrodes and
requirements forthegrounding electrode. SeeRg.below.
15. Non-usePeriods- The powercordof the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f romthe outletwhenleftunused for a long periodof
time.
16. Object and Liquid Entry - Careshould hetakenso thatobjects do
not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosure through
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Sendco - Theappliance should be serviced by
qualified s ervice personnel when:
A. Thepower supply cordortheplug hasbeen damaged; or
B. Objectshave fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance hasbeen exposed to rain;or
D. Theappliance doesnotappear to operate normally o r exhibits
a marked c hange in performance;
or
E. Theappliance h asbeen dropped, orthe enclosure damaged.
18. Snrvicing - Theusershould not attempt t o service the appliance
beyond that described in the operating instructions. A ll other
servicing should bereferred t o qualified s ervice personnel.
Noteto theCATV system installer:. This reminder isprovided t o callthe
CA'rVsystem installer's attention to Article820-40 of the NEC that
provides g uidelines for proper g rounding and,inparticular, specifies t hat
the cablegroundshallbe connected t o the grounding systemof the
building, asclose tothepoint o fcable entry as practical.
