Cooking
on the Smoothtop
It's
still smoky...
The downdrafl should greatly reduce
smoke residue from the air while
cooking. Should the downdraft not be
removing air as expected:
1.
Check vent to make sure it is
unobstructed and clean.
2.
Check filter to verify it is clean and
not clogged.
3.
Check outdoor exhaust exit to
verify it is not clogged.
4.
Review venting and elbows. Too
many elbows hinder air flow and
reduce downdraft performance.
Using
Downdraft
Ventilation
This cooktop utilizes a downdraft ventilation system designed to
remove smoke and odors during cooking. Unlike other venting systems,
the downdraft exhaust vents to the exterior, allowing for complete removal
of cooking odors. The fan is located beneath the vent area in the center of
the cooktop.
1.
Turn fan knob to desired speed setting.
When flaming foods, downdraft should
be turned ON.
2.
Turn fan control knob to OFF when cooking
is complete.
Cleaning
the
downdraft
The downdraft has both a grate and a
filter. Both parts need to be cleaned
frequently. Not cleaning often may
result in foul odors and a possible fire
hazard. Both the filter and grate must be
in place when using the downdraft
exhaust system.
To clean the grate:
use warm, soapy water to remove
grease and soil from the grate.
for built up soil allow grate to soak
overnight.
to remove stains from the grate,
place grate in bag with anmmnia in
a cup. Do not allow anmmnia to
touch grate. Allow to sit overnight.
use only nonabrasive cleaners when
necessary.
To clean the filter:
wash filter in warm soapy water.
filter is dishwasher safe for the
upper rack.
filter may need to be cleaned more
than once to remove excessive
grease or soil.
replacement filters are available.
