Various broadcasting stations now transmit movies and
programmes in true wide screen format, especially some satellite
broadcasts. Built into your TV is software that detects these
signals and automatically switches your TV to the correct format.
However, some broadcasters do not transmit the automatic
sensing signal, and thus the TV will not recognize the format
being transmitted.
The above problem may be overcome simply by pressing the
16:9 button on your handset.
First identify the type of signal being transmitted. If it is a 16 x 9
wide screen broadcast viewed on a 4 x 3 normal format, then
objects or characters appear tall and narrow (see example 1).
By pressing the 16:9 button on your handset the screen is
compressed to a 16 x 9 ratio. This is the correct ratio to view true
wide screen broadcasts (see example 2).
If the 16:9 button is pressed once more the AUTO function is set.
The TV will automatically detect the broadcast and switch to 4:3
or 16:9 ratio. We recommend AUTO is set for the majority of TV
viewing.
