TheCalifornia Air Resources Board(CARB), U.S. E PA andSears arepleased to explainthe
Emission C ontrolSystem Warrantyonyourmodelyear2000andlatersmalloff-road
engine(SORE). InCalifornia, n ewsmalloff-roadengines mustbedesigned, b uiltand
equipped to meetthe State's stringentanti-smog standards. E lsewhere i nthe United
States, n ewnon-road, s park-ignitionengines certifiedfor modelyear1997 andlater
mustmeetsimilarstandards setforth bythe U.S. E PA. Sears mustwarrantthe emission
controlsystem on yourengineforthe periods oftime listedbelow,provided therehas
beenno abuse, n eglect o r impropermaintenance o fyoursmalloff-roadengine.Your
emission controlsystemincludes partssuchasthe carburetor, air cleaner, i gnition
system, m ufflerandcatalyticconverter. A lsoincludedmaybeconnectors andother
emission relatedassemblies. Whereawarrantable conditionexists, S ears will repair
yoursmalloff-roadengineat nocostto youincludingdiagnosis, partsandlabor.

periodof oneyear, s ubjectto provisions setforth below.Ifanycovered partonyour

Asthe smalloff-roadengine owner,youareresponsible f orthe performance o f the
required maintenance l isted inyourOperating andMaintenance I nstructions. Sears
recommends thatyou retainall yourreceipts covering maintenance o nyoursmall
off-roadengine,but Sears cannot d enywarrantysolelyforthe lackof receipts or for
yourfailureto ensurethe performance o f all scheduled maintenance. Asthesmall
off-roadengineowner,youshouldhowever b eawarethatSears maydenyyouwarranty
coverage ifyoursmalloff-roadengineor apart hasfaileddueto abuse, n eglect,

Lengthof Coverage
Sears warrantsto the initialownerandeachsubsequent purchaser that the
Warranted Parts shallbefreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanship which
caused the failureofthe WarrantedParts foraperiodofoneyearfrom the date
the engineisdeliveredto aretailpurchaser.

performance. The warrantyisnot relatedto an in-useemission test.

Repair o r replacement of anyWarranted Partwill beperformedat nocharge to
the owner,includingdiagnostic laborwhichleadsto the determination thata
Warranted Partisdefective, i f the diagnostic work isperformedatan Authorized
Sears Service Dealer. F oremissions w arrantyservice contactyournearest
Authorized Sears Service Dealer a slistedinthe "YellowPages" u nder"Engines,
Gasoline," "Gasoline Engines," " LawnMowers," o r similarcategory.
4.
Claims a ndCoverage E xclusions
Warrantyclaims shallbefiled in accordance withthe provisions of the Sears
Engine WarrantyPolicy. W arrantycoverage s hallbe excluded forfailuresof
Warranted PartswhicharenotoriginalSears partsor because o f abuse, n eglect
or impropermaintenance a ssetforth inthe Sears Engine WarrantyPolicy. S ears
isnot liableto coverfailuresofWarrantedParts caused bythe useofadd-on,
non-original, o r modifiedparts.
5.
Maintenance
AnyWarranted Partwhichis not scheduled forreplacement a srequired
maintenance o r whichisscheduled onlyforregularinspection to the effectof
"repairor replace asnecessary" shallbewarrantedasto defects forthe warranty
period. A nyWarranted Partwhichisscheduled for replacement asrequired
maintenance s hallbewarrantedasto defects onlyforthe periodof time up
to the first scheduled replacement forthat part.Anyreplacement part thatis
equivalent i n performance a nddurabilitymaybeusedin the performance o f
anymaintenance o r repairs. T heownerisresponsible f orthe performance o f
all required maintenance, asdefinedinthe Sears Operating andMaintenance
Instructions.
Consequential Coverage
Coverage h ereunder s hallextendto the failureofanyenginecomponents c aused
bythe failureofanyWarranted Partstill underwarranty.
