Move ENGINE CONTROL (see Figure 1) to HI Position.
(_ START ENGINE
A. The carburetoron yourengine has been completelyadjusted
at the factory. When starting a cold engine, push red pdmer
bulbfirmly with your thumb 5 tlmea, allowing pdmer bulbto
retum completely to odginal position between pushes. Re-
peat the above for each starter operation as necessary.
NOTE: DO NOT USE PRIMER TO RESTART A WARM
ENGINE AFTER A SHORT SHUTDOWN.
B. Grasp starterhandle (see Figure2) and pullrope out, slowly,
until it pulls slightlyharder. Let rope rewind slowly. Then pull
rope witha rapidfullarm stroke. Let rope rewindSLOWLY. Do
not let starter handle snap back against rope guide (see
Figure 2).
C. Repeat instructionB it necessary, until engine starts.
NOTE: If engine does notstart, repeat instructionsA, B and
C untilit starts.
ENGINE SPEED: Engine speed iscontrolledby the ENGINE CON-
TROL see Figure 1).
ENGINE CONTROL should be in HI positionfor high grass condi-
tions and for most efficient bagging in heavy grass conditions,end
in LOW positionfor light grass, trimmingand for fuel economy.

OIL
LEVEL:
Check oil level every five (5) operatinghoursoreach time engine
is used. See "¢D CHECK OIL LEVEL"in "BEFORE STARTING" on
Page 1.

CHANGE
OIL:
Change oil after first two (2) operating hours end every 25
operating hourstheraatter, more often If operated in extremely
dusty or dirty conditions. Change oil while engine Is still warm
from recent running.

DISCONNECT SPARK PLUG WIRE FROM SPARK PLUG
AND ATTACH IT TO RETA N NG POST (see Figure 3).
B. Positionequipmont ea engine oil drainplug ls inwost puint on
engine.
C. Remove oildrain plug and oil tillplugto drainoil (sea Figure
1).
D. Replace oil drain plug and tighten securely.
E. Fill oil sump with recommended oil. See "OIL & FUEL REC-
OMMENDATIONS" and "CHECK OIL LEVEL" on Page 1.
F. Replace oil till plug and tighten securely.
G. Connect spark plug wire to spark plug.
H. Wipe up any spilled oil and/or gasoline.
NOTE: If it is difficuft t o reachthe oil drainptug,drainfuel.Remove
oil fill plug and tip mower on its side. Drain oil into a suitable
container.
