STOPPING
YOUR S AW
• Release the trigger switch.
• Ifmotor does n ot s top, disconnect
the extension
cord.
STARTING YOUR SAW
• Connect the saw toapower source
using t he proper size extension
cord;

• Grip both handles firmly.
• Push a nd hold the trigger lock out
button with your r ight hand t humb.
• Squeeze and hold the trigger switch.
OPERATING
TIPS
• Check chain t ension before first u se
and after 1 minute ofoperation.

• Cut w ood o nly. Donot c utmetal,
plastics, masonry,
non-wood
building
materials,
etc.
• Stop t he saw ifthe chain s trikes a
foreign object. Inspect thesaw and
repair parts a snecessary.
• Keep t he chain o ut o fdirt a nd sand.
Even a small amount ofdirt w ill
quickly dull a chain a nd increase the
possibility
ofkickback.
• Practice cutting afew small logs us-
ing the following steps. This will h elp
you get t he"feel" ofusing y our saw
before you begin a major sawing op-
eration.
• Squeeze
trigger switch and allow unit
toreach full s peed b efore cutting.
• Begin c utting with the saw frame
against the log.
• Keep t he motor atfull s peed t he en-
tire time you arecutting.
• Release the trigger switch assoon
asthe cut i scompleted,
allowing the
motor tostop.
• Keep t he cord away f rom the cutting
area. Position cord soitwill n ot b e
caught onbranches and the like dur-
ing cutting.
• To avoid l osing control when c utis
complete,
donot p ut p ressure
on
saw atend ofcut.
• Stop motor before setting saw down.
TREE FELLING TECHNIQUES
WARNING: Check forbroken or

cutting causing serious injury. Do not

beable tosee well, nor d uring b ad
weather such asrain, snow, orstrong
winds, etc. I fthe tree does m ake c on-
tact w ith any utility l ine, the utility c om-
pany s hould benotified immediately.
• Carefully
plan y our sawing operation
in
advance.
• Clear the work a rea. You need a clear
area all a round the tree soyou can
have s ecure footing.
• The chain s aw operator should keep
onthe uphill side ofthe terrain asthe
tree islikely t oroll o rslide d ownhill
after i tisfelled.
• Study the natural conditions
that c an
cause the tree tofall i naparticular
direction,
such as:
• The wind d irection and speed.
• The lean ofthe tree. T he lean ofa
tree might not b eapparent
due toun-
even o rsloping terrain. Use aplumb
orlevel todetermine
the direction of
tree lean.
• Weight and branches onone side.
• Surrounding
trees a nd obstacles.
• Look f ordecay and rot. I fthe trunk i s
rotted, itcan snap and fall t oward the
operator.
• Make s ure there isenough room for
the tree tofall. M aintain adistance of
2-1/2 tree lengths from the nearest
person orother objects. Noise c an
drown o ut a warning call.
• Remove dirt, stones, loose b ark,
nails, staples, and wire from the tree
where c uts are tobemade.

FELLING LARGE TREES

afelling cut i smade o nthe opposite
side oftree, the tree will tend tofall i n
the direction
ofthe notch.
NOTE: Ifthe tree has large b uttress
roots, remove them before making the
notch.
