chain
so it will=be
snug, won't
rock
or
wobble
on the bar. Figure

Place file and guide on top of chain, allowing
guide
to
rest on top of cutter
and depth
gauge. Figure 23.

Determine
filing
direction.
File stroke
should
be from
inside
to outside
of
cutter
or away
from
yourself.

SUGGESTIONS
FOR
OBTAINING
SHARP
CUTTING
EDGES
1. Normal_
sharpening
is accomplished
by
the
built-in
sharpener.
2. File
cutters
only
when
dull
and attempt
to keep
all
cutters
the
same [ength.
The
side plates
should always
be kept
approximately
1/32
of an inch
longer
than
the.
top piate.
3. Preserve the original filing angles carefully
and uniformly.
4. Care should be taken
never to file into the bottom
of the
top
plate.
Keep
guide lines
on file guide aligned
with
chain and guide bar(Figure
24).
