II LongTime-Exposures (114 ModeOnly)
Shutter speeds of "bulb" and "time" can be used
for long time-exposure
photographs
of moving
lights, the stars, night scenery, or fireworks.
To
prevent blurring caused by camera shake, use a
tripod and an optional
remote control
(_ 167).
Length of exposure: 35 s

Mount the camera on a tripod or place it on a stable, level surface. To prevent
loss of power before the exposure is complete,
use a fully charged EN-EL9a
battery or an optional
EH-5a AC adapter and EP-5 power connector.
Note that
noise may be present in long exposures; before shooting,
choose On for the
Noise reduction
option
in the shooting
menu (_ 122).

Rotate the mode dial to M.
Mode dial
Choose
a shutter
speed.
Rotate the command
dial until "Bulb"
(bu L _,) appears in the viewfinder
or
information
display.
For a shutter speed of
"Time" (- -), select delayed remote or quick-
response remote mode after choosing
the
shutter speed (_ 53).
