MULCHING MOWING TIPS

• The special mulchingblade will recurthe
grass clippingsmany times and reduce
them in size so that as they fall ontothe
lawnthey willdisperseintothe grass and
notbe noticed. Also,the mulchedgrass
will biodegrade quicklyto provide nutrients
for the lawn. Always mulchwith your
highestengine (blade) speed as this will
providethe best recuttingactionof the
blades.
• Avoidcuttingyour lawnwhen itis wat. Wet
grasstends to form dumps and interferes
withthe mulchingaction. The best time to
mow your lawn is the early afternoon. At
this time the grass has dried and the newiy
cutarea will not be exposedto the direct
sun.
• For best reeults,aa_ust t he lawn mower
cuttingheightso thatthe lawn mowercuts
off onlythe top one-thirdof the grass
blades. If thelawn is overgrownitwilibe
necessaryto raleethe beight of cut to
reduce pushingeffortand to keep from
overloadingthe engine and leaving
dumps of mulchedgrass. For extremely
heavy mulching,reduce yourwidthof cut
by overlappingpreviouslycutpath and
mowslowly.
• Certain typesof grass and grass condi-
tions may requirethat an area be mulched
a secondtime to completelyhidethe
clippings. When doinga secondcut, mow

to the firstcut path.
• Change your cuttingpatternfromweek to
week. Mow northto southone week then
changeto eastto west the nextweek. This
will help preventmattingand grainingof
the lawn.
