REPLACING THE BELT COVER
Removingthe Belt Cover
1. Usea 3/8"wrenchto removeboth
screws (D, E,Figure5-1).

2. Liftthe backend of thecoverthen
carefully pullout.
Do not operate the mower without the
belt cover in place. Doing so could
result in personalinjury or damage to
components.
When working near the blade, wear
heavy leatherglovesto protectyourself
from thesharpedgesonthe blade.
ENGINE OILSERVICE
Checkthe engine oil levelbeforestarting
theengineeachdayand after each5
hours of continuousoperation. Running
the engine whenthe oil levelis low will
quicklyruin the engine.
Changeengine oilafter thefirst 2 hours
of break-in operation,thereafter, in accor-
dancewith your EngineOwnersManual.
Changemore often in extremely dirty or
dusty conditions. Refertothe Engine
Owner'sManualfor detailedinformation
on changing oil.
SERVICING THEAIR CLEANER
The engine air cleaner filters dirt and dust
outof the air beforeit entersthe carbure-
tor. Operatingthe engine with a dirty,
clogged air cleanercancausepoor per-
formanceand damageto the engine.
Neveroperatethe enginewithout the air
cleanerinstalled. Inspectand servicethe
air cleanermore oftenif operatingin very
dusty or dirty conditions.
Servicethe air cleaneras instructed in the
separateEngineOwner'sManual.
Replacingthe Belt Cover
1. Seatthe rear endof the cover. Make
surethatbothcontrolcables arerouted
throughthe cutoutinthe rearof the
cover. Thiswillhelp prevent damage
caused bypinchingthe cables under the
coveror contact withthetransmission
pulley or belt.
2. Tightenscrewssnugly.Do not ever-
tighten(D, E, Figure 5-1).

1. Before tipping the mower,make sure
that the fuel tank is emptyto preventthe
possibilityof gasolinespillage. See
"DANGER" statementthat follows.
