• Checkfuel tank beforestarlingangine. Do
notfll ges tank indoors, when the engine is
runningor when the engineis hot. Allowthe
engineto coolforseveral minutes before
tillingthe gas tank. Clean off any spilled
gasolinebefore startingthe engine.
• Always make wheal heigl_ adjustments
beforestartingyour mower, Never attempt
to do this whilethe engineis running.
• Mow onlyin dayfightor good ert_cial light.
OPERATION:
• Keep your eyes and mind on yourmower
and the area being cut. Do notlet other
interestsdistractyou.
• Do not mow wet or slipperygrass. Never
runwhileoperatingyour mower. Always be
sureof yourfooting- keep a firm holdon the
handles and walk.
• DO not put handsor feet near or under
rotatingparts. Keep clearof the discharge
openingat all times.
• Alwaysstopthe enginewhenever you leave
or ere notusing your mower, or before
crossingdriveways,walks, roads,and any
gravel-coveredareas.
• Never directdischargeof materialtoward
bystandersnor allow anyone neer the
mower while you are operatingit.
• Before cleaning,inspecting, o r repairing
your mower,stopthe engineand make
absolutelysurethe bladeand all moving
partshave stopped. Then disconnect t he
spark plugwire and keep itaway from the
spark plugto preventaccidentalstarting.
• Do not continue to runyour mower ifyou hit
a foreign object. Followthe procedure
outlinedabove,then repairany damage
before restarting and operatingyour mower.
• Do notchange thegovemorsettingsor
overspeedthe engine. Enginedamage or
personalinjury'mayresult.
• DO not operateyour mower if itvibrates
abnormally. Excessivevibrationis an
indication of damage; stop the engine,
sefeiy checkfor thecause of vibrationand
repairas required.
• Do not runthe engine indoors. Exhaust

• Never cutgrass by pullingthe mower
towardsyou. Mow across the face of
slopes, never up and downoryou might

• Never operateyour mowerwithoutproper
guards,plates,grasscatcher or othersafety
devicesin place.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE:
• Check the blade and the engine mounting
bolts often to be sure they are tightened
properly.
• Check all bolts, nuts and screws at frequent
intervals for proper tightness to be sure
mower is in safe working condition.
• Keepall safety devices in place and
working.
• To reduce tire hazard, keep the engine free
of grass, leaves or excessive grease and oil.
• Check grass catcher often for deterioration
and wear and replace worn begs. Use only
replacement bags that are recommended
by and comply with specifications of the
manufacturer of your mower.
• Al,._ys keep a sharp blade on yourmower.
• Allow engine to cool before storing in any
enclosure.
• Never store mower with fuel in the tank
inside a building where fumes may reach an
open _larne or an ign_on source such as a
hot water heater, space heater, clothes
dryer, etc.
