TO START ENGINE WITH A WEAK BATTERY
(See Fig. 31)

CAUTION: Lead-acid batteries gener-
ate explosivegases_ Keep sparks,flame
and smoking materials away from bat-
teries. Always wear eye protection
when around batteries°
If your battery is too weak to start the engine, it should be
recharged° If "jumper' cables" are used for' emergency
starting, follow this procedure:
IMPORTANT: YOUR TRACTOR tS EQUIPPED WITH A 12
VOLT NEGATIVE GROUNDED SYSTEM THE OTHER
VEHICLE MUST ALSO BE A 12 VOLT NEGATIVE
GROUNDED SYSTEM. DO NOT USE YOUR TRACTOR
BATTERY TO START OTHER VEHICLES.
TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES -
, Connect each end of the RED cable to the POSITIVE
(+) terminal of each battery, taking care not to short
against chassis,_
° Connect one end of the BLACK cable to the NEGA-
TIVE (-) terminal of fully charged battery_
° Connect the other end of the BLACK cable to good
CHASSIS GROUND, away from fuel tank and battery.,
TO REMOVE CABLES, REVERSE ORDER -
° BLACK cable first from chassis and then from the fuliy
charged battery.
° RED cable last from both batteries_
TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB
° Raise hood_
o Pull bulb holder out of the hole in the backside of the
grill°
° Replace bulb in holder and push bulb holder securely
back into the hole in the backside of the grill.
• Close hood.
INTERLOCKS AND RELAYS
Loose or damaged widng may cause your tractor to run
poorly, stop running, or prevent it from starting°
° Check wiring. See electrical widng diagram in the
Repair Parts section of this manual.
TO REPLACE FUSE
Replace with 30 amp autornotive-type plug-in fuse. The
fuse holder is located behind the dash.
TO REMOVE HOOD AND GRILL ASSEMBLY
(See Fig. 32)
• Raise hood_.
• Unsnap headlight wire connector_
• Stand in front oftractor. Grasp hood at sides, tilt toward
engine and lift off of tractor.
• To replace, reverse above procedures.
