MULCHING MOWING TIPS
IMPORTANT:
For best performance, keep
mower housing free of built-up grass and trash.
Clean UNDERSIDE OF MOWER HOUSING
after each use. See "Cleaning" in CUSTOMER
RESPONSIBILITIES
section of this manual.
• The special mulching blade will recut the
grass clippings many times and reduce
them in size so that as they fall onto the
lawn they willdisperse into the grass and
not be noticed. Also, the mulched grass will
biodegrade quicklyto provide nutrientsfor
the lawn. Always mulch with your highest
engine (blade) speed as this will provide the
best recutting action of the blades,
• Avoid cuttingyour lawn when it iswet. Wet
grass tends to form dumps and interferes
with the mulching action. The best time to
mow your lawn is the early affemoon. At this
time the grass,has dried and the newly cut
area will not be exposed to the direct sun.

offonlythe topone-third of the grassblades.
If the lawnisovergrown it will be necessanj
to raisethe heightof cutto reducepushing
effortandto keepfromoverloading the
engineand leavingclumpsofmulched
grass.Forextremelyheavymulching,
reduceyourwidth of cut,mow slowlyand
raisethe rearofthe lawn mowerone wheel
adjuster settinghigherthanthefront.
Certaintypesofgrassand grassconditions
may require that an area be mulcheda
secondtime to completely hidethe
clippings. Whendoinga secondcut,mow
acrossorperpendicularto the firstcutpath.
Changeyourcutting patternfrom weekto
week. Mow northto southone weekthen
changeto eastto westthe nextweek.This
will help preventmatting and graining ofthe
lawn.
