CLEAN AIR RLTER
A dirty air filterdecreases the life and
performance ofthe engine and in-
creasesfuel consumption and harmfu
emissions. A lwayscleanyoursir filter
after 15 tanksof fuel or 5 hoursof op-
eration,whichever comesfirst.Clean
more frequently in dustyconditions. A
used air filter cannever be completely
cleaned, it is advisable to replaceyour
air filter with a newone afterevery50
hoursofoperation,or annually, w hich-
evercomesfirst. To cleanfilter:.
• Loosen3 screwson cylinder cover.
• Removecylinder cover.
- Remove air filter,
• Cleanthe air filter usinghot soapy
water, Rinsewithcleancoolwater,
Air dry completely before reinstalling.
• Lightlyoil air fitter beforeinstalling to
improve the efficiency of air filter. Use
2-cycle engineoi! or motoroil (SAE
30). Squeezeexcess oil'from _iter.
• Reinstall air filter.
• Reinstallcylinder coverand 8 screws
(15-20 in-lbs.).

INSPECT MUFFLER AND SPARK
ARRESTOR SCREEN
As the unitis used,carbon deposits
buitdupon the mufflerand spark
arrestorscreen,and mustbe removed
to avoid creating a fire hazardor affect-
ingengineperformance.
Replacethesparkarrestor screenif
breaksoccur.

CLEANING THE SPARK
ARRESTOR SCREEN
Cleaningis required every25 hoursof
operation or annually,..whichever_comes
first.

• Loosenand remove the 2 mufflercov-
er screws,
• Removethe mufflercover (cover
snapsoffmufflerbody).
• Remove mufflerdiffuser a nd spark
arrestorscreenassembly.Noticethe
orientation of thesepartsfor reassem-
bling.
• Clean thesparkarrestor screenwitha
wire brush.Replacescreenif breaks
are found.
• Replaceany brokenor crackedmuf-
fler parts.
• Reinstalldiffuser and sparkarrestor
screen assembly withroundholes
facing up.
• Reinstallmufflercoverand 2 screws
(7-8 ft-lbs),
REPLACE SPARK PLUG
The sparkplugshouldbe replaced
eachyear to ensurethe enginestarts
easier and runsbetter, gnition t ruing is
fixed and nonadjustable.
• Loosen3 screwson cylindercover.
° Removethe cylindercover,
• Pulloffthe sparkplugboot.

• Removespark plugfromcylinder and
discard.
