TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
ITEMS IN THIS GUIDE MARKED WITH AN ASTERISK (*) SHOULD ONLY BE
PERFORMED BY A LICENSED GAS FITTER OR EQUIVALENT.
WARNING
Turn off and let the unit cool before servicing.
Only a qualified service person should
service or repair this unit.
PROBLEM
When ignitor is pressed
there is no ODS pilot.
Flame seems to blow out
or will not light.
Appliance produces odors.
Gas odor even when control
knob is in "OFF" position.
Smoke or odor during initial burn.
Strong gas smell.
Gas smell – sooting.
When ignitor button is pressed,
there is spark at ODS and no ignition.
CAUTION
Never use a wire, needle, or similar
object to clean the ODS pilot.
This can damage the pilot.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Ignitor electrode positioned wrong. →
Ignitor electrode broken. →
Ignitor electrode not connected
to ignitor cable. →
Ignitor cable pinched or wet. →
Air in the gas line.→
Stove burning vapors from paint,
hair spray, glue, etc.→
Gas leak. See warning label on cover.→
Gas leak. See warning label on cover.→
Control valve defective.→
Vapors from paint or production process.→
LP fuel may have additives or be poor quality.→
Excess gas pressure.→
Logs may be out of place.→
Orifice size may be incorrect.→
Gas supply turned off or manual shutoff
valve is closed.→
Control knob not in "PILOT" position.→
Air in gas line when installed.→
"ODS" pilot is clogged.→
Gas regulator setting is incorrect.→
SOLUTION
*Replace ignitor electrode.
*Replace ignitor electrode.
*Replace ignitor cable.
*Free ignitor cable if pinched
by any metal or tubing. Keep
ignitor cable dry.
Replace cable if spark still
isn't there after freeing the
pinched wire.
Purge air from line (Check to
ensure gas is going to pilot.)
Ventilate room. Stop using
products while operating unit.
*Locate and correct all leaks.
*Locate and correct all leaks.
*Replace control valve.
Unit curing out. Will stop.
*Shut off gas. Check supplier.
*Call utility company/installer.
Compare placement of logs to
the diagram in the manual.
Replace if incorrect.
Turn on gas or open supply.
Correct knob position.
Purge air from system by
holding down control knob.
Repeat ignition.
*Replace "ODS" assembly.
*Replace gas regulator.
