and hmger than your old refl'igerator and wm may
hear a high-pitched hmn or pulsating sound while
it is operating.
• Sometimes the reflJgerator rtms tot an extended period,
especially when the doo_s are opened ti'equently: This
means that the Frost Guarff" feature is working to
prevent fl'eezer burn and improve t0od preservation.

Y)m may hear a whooshing
somad when the doo_s close.
This is due to pressure equalizing within the reli_igerato_:
CLICKS, POPS,
CRACKS and CHIRPS
• You may hear cracking or poi}i}ing sotmds when the
reli'igerator is first plugged in. This hai_pens as the
reti'igerator cools to the correct temperature.
• Electronic dampers click open and closed to provide
optimal cooling and energy savings.
• The compressor may cause a clicking or chirping
sound when attempting to restart (this could take
up to 5 minutes).
• The electronic control board may cause a clicking
sound when relays activate to control reii'igerator
COil] l) OIleIltS.
• Expansion and contraction of cooling coils dm'ing
and after defl'ost can cause a cracking or i_oi_ping
SOtlnd.
• On models with an icemake_; aiter an icemaking
cycle, you may hear the ice cubes dropping into
the ice bucket.

• You may hear the rims spimdng at high speeds.
This hal)pens when the refrigerator is first plugged
in, when the doors are opened frequently or when
a large amount of food is added to the refrigerator
or freezer compartments. The tans are helping to
maintain the correct temperatures.
• If either door is open fi)r over 3 minutes,
you may
hear the rims come on in order to cool the light
bulbs.
• The rims change speeds in order to provide optimal
cooling and energy savings.

coils may make a gurgling noise like boiling water.
• _hter dropping on the defrost heater can cause a
sizzling, i)oi)ping or buzzing sound dm'ing the

cycle as ice melts from the evaporator and flows into
the drain pan.
