    Section 4 Air Cleaner and Air Intake System Air Cleaners General Most engines are equipped with a replaceable, high- density paper air cleaner element, surrounded by an oiled foam precleaner, and housed under a flat outer cover. This is typically referred to as the standard air cleaner assembly.
  • Page 32 4. Do not wash the paper element or use pressurized air, as this will damage the element. Replace a dirty, bent, or damaged element with a genuine Kohler element. Handle new elements carefully; do not use if the sealing surfaces are bent or damaged.

Visual inspection and necessary cleaning should be performed on a regular basis, more frequently under dusty or dirty conditions.
