5. GENERATOR/WELDER
OPERATION
m
Connections
for standby
power to a building's
electrical
system
must be made by a qualified
electrician
and must comply
with all applicable
laws and electrical
codes.
Improper
connections
can allow
electrical
cur-
rent from the generator
to backfeed
into the utility
lines.
Such backfeed
may electrocute
utility
company
workers
or others
who contact
the lines
during
a power
outage,
and when
utility
power
is restored,
the generator
may explode,
burn, or cause fires in the building's
electrical
system.
Auto-throttle
System
W,ith the switch in the,AUTO.position,
engine speed is automatically
reduc-
ed to an idle when all loads are turned off or disconnected.
When ap-
pliances are turned on or reconnected,
the engine resumes the rated speed.
At OFF, the auto-throttle
system does not operate.
NOTE:
l
AUTO is recommended
to minimize fuel consumption
when no load is
applied.
l
To .avoid extended warm-up periods, keep the AUTO switch OFF until
the engine reaches operating temperature.
l
The auto-throttle
system will not respond to electrical loads of less than
1 ampere.
l
The system is not-effective
for use with appliances that require only
momentary
power.
