Questions and answers
I have a 6mo old 19803 and I have tried all things to get it to heat up. Wondering if there is a way to open it up and see if a wire disconnected. I have only used it about 3 times and it just stopped heating at all. There does not seem to get in and see what's inside of it. Thanks
To troubleshoot a Hamilton Beach 19803 iron that has stopped heating after limited use:
1. Check Temperature Control Dial: Ensure it is set to the correct setting for the fabric. If it’s in the dry or low range, the iron may not heat enough or produce steam.
2. Allow Heating Time: Wait at least 2 minutes for the iron to reach the set temperature.
3. Auto Shutoff Feature: The iron may have turned off automatically. It shuts off if left motionless—after 30 seconds on its soleplate or side, or 15 minutes on its heel. Move the iron to reset the sensor.
4. Unplug and Let Cool: If the iron is too hot, unplug it and let it cool for 5 minutes before use.
5. Check Power Source: Ensure the cord is properly plugged in and the outlet is working.
If the iron still does not heat, it may require servicing.
