  • Page 2 1 Output Output settings let you select media type or output bin for a print job, and to use Rotate Collate. Choosing Output by Media Type Selecting Media Type lets you search for the type of paper or media that is requested by the application or the printer driver.

A preview image illustrates some finishing options. Stapling a Print Job With an optional finishing device installed, the Staple feature lets you create stapled document sets.

  • Page 10 Imaging • Text and photos : This option is for printing documents with many photographic images. • Vivid colors : This option increases the color saturation of graphics and photos. • Publications : This option is for printing a mix of graphics and/or photos. Select this option to print close to the color shade of the screen.
  • Page 11 Imaging Printing with CMYK Processing CMYK Processing lets you choose how to apply color processing to your print job depending on how color data is received from the application. The following CMYK Processing options are available: • Printer settings : Select this option to use the settings currently on the device.
  • Page 12 Imaging Printing with CIE Optimization CIE Optimization bypasses the normal procedure of processing every aspect of the CIE color space used in applications such as Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop. This feature increases print speed for documents printed from these applications by optimizing CIE data. It has no effect on print jobs that do not use CIE data.

  • Page 14 5 Adjustment Adjustment settings customize the two color spaces in the driver. You can make color space changes to hue, saturation, and lightness (HSL) or to color balance levels. In the preview area, you can click Details to see how the adjustment settings appear on a page.

    6 Job Settings Job Settings offers a set of options for saving print jobs in printing system memory, so that you can print or reprint them later. Print jobs can easily be reprinted later using the printing system’s operation panel, and printing of sensitive documents can be restricted to approved users.
  • Page 16 Job Settings Select the Job Storage (e-MPS) checkbox. Choose Collate or None from the pop-up menu. Click Print. Printing with Quick Copy With a hard disk installed, Quick copy lets you print a document and save it in the printing system until the job is manually deleted or the printing system is turned off.

Choose Job Settings from the print options pop-up menu. Select the Job Storage (e-MPS) checkbox.
  • Page 18 Job Settings Select the Job Storage (e-MPS) checkbox. Choose Custom box from the pop-up menu. Click Settings to open the Custom Box Settings dialog. Select Use Specific Box Number and type a Box Number and Password, or select Prompt for Box Number. Click OK, then Print.
  • Page 19 7 Watermark A watermark is a recognizable text that can be placed throughout a document. The following options are available: • Watermark : Document data shows through watermark text. • Stamp : Document data does not show through stamp text. Printing a Watermark or Stamp You can add a watermark or stamp to a print job.
  • Page 20 Watermark Click Print. Adding a Watermark You can create a custom watermark or stamp that displays your chosen text. Any watermark can be edited, but changes in default watermarks cannot be saved. In the preview area, you can click Details to see how the watermark or stamp appears on a page.
  • Page 21 8 Publishing The Publishing option lets you create covers and inserts for a print job, and insert sheets between transparencies. Printing with Cover Mode Cover Mode lets you add cover pages for the front and back of your document. You can print on cover pages of a different weight or color than the main document.

If the Print dialog contains only two pop-up menus and some buttons across the bottom, click the disclosure triangle beside the Printer pop-up menu. Choose Publishing from the print options pop-up menu. Choose Page Insert from the pop-up menu.
  • Page 23 Publishing Select the Transparency Interleaving checkbox. To print the transparency content on the inserted pages also, select the Print Onto Backing checkbox. Choose the media type or source cassette for the backing sheet from the Media for Backing pop-up menu. When you choose the media type, a source cassette matching that media type is automatically selected.

    9 User Login You can use User Login to limit printing privileges to specified users for secure printing and accounting. The number of pages printed by each user is tracked by the printing system. User Login must be set to On at the printing system. A maximum of 1000 User Login names and passwords can be assigned at the printing system.

    10 Job Accounting You can use Job Accounting to check the number of prints associated with each account ID, as well as limit the number of copies for individual IDs. Account IDs can be up to 8 digits. Job Accounting must be set to On at the printing system. A maximum of 1000 account IDs can be assigned at the printing system.
  • Page 26 Job Accounting Click OK. You can edit the account ID description by selecting it in the Account ID List dialog and clicking Edit. You can remove an account ID from the list by selecting it in the Account ID List dialog and clicking Delete. 10-2...
