Section 8: Connections

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that
provides access to local area networks.
Wi-Fi communication requires access to an
existing Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi networks can be
Open (unsecured), or Secured (requiring you to
provide login credentials).
Configuring Wi-Fi Settings
Configure your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
For more information, see "Wi-Fi Settings" on
page 85.
Turning Wi-Fi On or Off
Turn your phone's Wi-Fi service on or off. When
you turn Wi-Fi service on, your phone
automatically searches for nearby available Wi-Fi
networks.
Tip: You can also turn Wi-Fi On or Off from
Apps
1. From the Home screen, sweep your finger
downward from the Status Bar to display
Notifications.

Scanning and Connecting to a Wi-Fi
Network
When you turn on Wi-Fi, your phone searches for
available Wi-Fi connections, then displays them.
1. From the Home screen, sweep your finger
downward from the Status Bar to display
Notifications.

3. When your phone completes a scan, touch
a Wi-Fi network to connect. If the Wi-Fi
network is open, you automatically
connect. If the Wi-Fi network is secured,
enter the password at the prompt to
connect.
Adding a Wi-Fi Network Manually
1. From the Home screen, sweep your finger
downward from the Status Bar to display
Notifications.
2. If Wi-Fi is not already on, touch

3. Touch Wi-Fi, and after a scan, touch Add
Wi-Fi network. Enter these fields:
• Network (SSID): Enter the name of the Wi-Fi
