5.1 Surround Sound Receiver
A progress report is displayed while your
receiver outputs more test tones to determine
the optimum settings for channel level, speaker
distance and frequency response of each
speaker. (It may takes several minutes.)

7 When the setup is complete, your receiver
displays the main menu.

Understanding the basics

Turning your receiver on or off

To turn your receiver on or off:
1 Plug the power cord into a power outlet.
2 Press POWER on the front of your receiver. Your
receiver is in standby mode and the STANDBY
indicator lights.
3 Press ON/STANDBY on the front of your receiver
or POWER ON on the remote control. Your
receiver enters operating mode.
Note
When you press ON/STANDBY on the front of your
receiver, your receiver either enters standby mode or
operating mode.
When you press POWER ON on the remote control,
your receiver enters operating mode. When you press
STANDBY mode on the remote control, your receiver
enters standby mode.
4 Press SPEAKER on the front of your receiver. The
connected speakers turn on.
Note
If you want to use headphones and do not want
sound coming from the speakers, press SPEAKER to
turn off the speakers. "H" appears on the display.

To select the input source:
1 Rotate the INPUT SELECTOR knob on the front
of your receiver. Each time you rotate the knob,
the input source changes in the following
sequence:
→TUNER ↔ CD ↔ TV
AUX1 ↔
DVD ↔ C(A)BL(E)/SAT ←
Or,
Press one of the input selector buttons on the
remote control to select an input source.
Press TUNER:
• Once to select FM ST (stereo)
• Twice to select FM MONO
• Three times to select AM
2 When CD, GAME/AUX 2, DVD, or CABLE/SAT is
selected as an input source, press D.INPUTS to
select digital or analog. Each time you press this
button, the source changes in the following
sequence:
→ C 1
→ O 1

Optical 1

Notes
When CD is selected, HDMI cannot be selected.
When TV, AUX 1, or TUNER is selected as an
input source, the digital input cannot be
selected.
When the selected digital input or HDMI input
is not connected, the DIGITAL or HDMI indicator
flickers and the analog input is automatically
selected.
To adjust the volume:
• Rotate the MASTER VOLUME knob on the
front of your receiver.
Or,
Press VOL+ or VOL– on the remote control
• Press MUTE to turn off the sound. MUTE
flickers on the display when the sound is
muted. Press again to restore the sound.
