Problem
Monitor is blank.
Monitor is hard to read.
Date and time of
recording are not correct.
No indicators displayed in
monitor.
Print date not available.
Date not imprinted on
images even when Print
date is enabled.
Screen for setting time
zone and date is displayed
when camera is turned on.
Camera settings reset.
Monitor turns off, and the
power-on lamp flashes
quickly.
Camera becomes hot.
Cause/Solution
• Camera is off.
• Standby mode for saving power: press the
power switch, the shutter-release button, A
button, c button, or b (e movie-record)
button.
• When flash lamp flashes, wait until flash has
charged.
• Camera and computer are connected via USB
cable.
• Camera and TV are connected via audio/video
cable or HDMI cable.
• Adjust monitor brightness.
• Monitor is dirty. Clean monitor.
• If camera clock has not been set, "Date not set"
indicator flashes during shooting and movie
recording. Images and movies saved before
clock is set are dated "01/01/2012 00:00". Set the
correct time and date from the Time zone and
date option in the setup menu.
• Check camera clock regularly against more
accurate timepieces and reset as required.
Hide info is selected for Photo info.
Select Show info.
Camera clock has not been set.
• The current shooting mode is one that does not
support Print date.
• The date cannot be imprinted on movies.
Clock battery is exhausted; all settings were
restored to their default values.
Battery temperature is high. Turn off camera and
allow battery to cool down before resuming use.
After the lamp flashes for three minutes, the
camera will turn off automatically. Pressing the
power switch also turns off the camera.
The camera may become hot when used for an
extended period of time to shoot movies or send
images using an Eye-Fi card, or when used in a hot
environment; this is not a malfunction.
