any adjustments Dragon NaturallySpeaking made for your voice and
vocabulary while you were using the program.
What are user speech files?
Your user speech files contain all the information that Dragon
NaturallySpeaking gathers about you: your pronunciation, your
vocabulary, how often you use different words, and your preferences
(whether you want one or two spaces after a period, for example).
Dragon NaturallySpeaking learns more about your voice and
vocabulary almost every time you use the program, even when you
don't do anything special to teach it.
You should almost always save your speech files when you exit. The only
exception is if you do something that could diminish accuracy, such as
running the Vocabulary Builder™ and processing documents that aren't
representative of text you'll be dictating. (See your Dragon
NaturallySpeaking User's Guide for more information about Vocabulary
Builder.) But don't worry about small mistakes you might make, such as
entering the wrong words in the Correction dialog box. This type of
mistake won't have any significant effect and is easily reversed with
continued use of the program.
NOTE
If you ever make unwanted changes to your speech files, you can restore a
backup copy. See your Dragon NaturallySpeaking User's Guide.
Switching from keyboard to voice takes time. While you're learning to
use Dragon NaturallySpeaking, continue to use the keyboard when this
is easier for you, but don't give up on talking to your computer. With
practice, it becomes more natural.
Try to spend at least a few minutes each day practicing, for example:
Dictate a few paragraphs from the daily newspaper
Create a "to do" list for the day
Write an e-mail message to a friend
