Electrical opening function

Electrical opening function
When the front and/or handle of the drawer (A) is pulled or pressed, the eject lever of the drive unit (B) swivels forward and opens the drawer a short distance.

Leaning protection


The electrical opening function is only triggered by a brief touch or pull. Leaning on the drawer, for example, will not open it.

UTRUSTA Power supply unit

The power supply unit provides power to the drive unit. A LED light indicates whether the power supply unit is in operating mode.

Troubleshooting

Problems Possible cause Remedy
UTRUSTA will neither work by pulling nor pushing. Power supply unit is not connected to the outlet. Insert the power supply unit to the outlet.
Power supply interrupted. Check the circuit breaker/fuse box.
If necessary, contact an authorised electrician.
Power supply unit is defective. Cabling is defective. Replace the power supply unit.
Max. fill height of drawer has been exceeded. Open the drawer manually. Remove the items that are too high from the drawer.
Drive unit is defective. Replace the drive unit.
UTRUSTA will only work when pulling – not when pushing. Object is obstructing path. Remove the obstruction.
Distance bumper is missing or defective. Attach or replace the distance bumper.

General

  • The device may only be connected to a power supply that corresponds to the type and frequency listed on the serial tag (see power supply unit).
  • The main plug and the power supply unit must be easily accessible.
  • Neither the power supply unit nor any cabling should come into contact with moving parts.
  • A safety distance of 30 mm must be maintained for air circulation; otherwise, there is a risk that the power supply unit could overheat.
  • Do not cover the power supply units with towels or other items due to danger of overheating.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children must not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.
  • Japan: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) who require assistance, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Intended use
UTRUSTA supports the opening of drawers and may only be used under the following conditions:

  • In dry, enclosed rooms.
  • In combination with pull-out systems from within permitted technical specifications.
  • The furniture must be firmly secured to the wall so that it cannot topple over.
    IKEA is not liable for any other use.

Operation

Premature wear of UTRUSTA due to improper use.

  • Do not press/pull with force against the movement direction when opening the drawer.
  • Please make sure that the distance bumper is attached to the front.
  • To ensure that drawers cannot be activated unintentionally, we recommend connecting the power supply unit to a switched outlet.

Structural changes and spare parts

  • Structural changes and replacement parts not approved by the manufacturer affect the safety and functionality UTRUSTA and are, therefore, not allowed.
  • The product as supplied to customer may not be changed.
  • Only use original spare parts.

Children

Opening drawers may pose a risk of injury to children.

  • Children should be properly supervised when in the room so that they do not play with the device.
  • To ensure that UTRUSTA is not triggered unintentionally, the outlet paired to a switch should be turned off.

Cabinet care and cleaning

There is a danger of electric shock if fluids penetrate the power supply unit.

  • Before cleaning the front, turn off the switched outlet to which the power supply unit is connected.
  • Before cleaning the drive unit and/or power supply unit, disconnect the power supply unit from the power.
  • Make sure that no water or strong cleaning agent comes in contact with the drive unit or power supply unit – use a moist cloth.
  • Never open a power supply unit or drive unit.
  • Any cabling damage should be immediately repaired by a qualified specialist.
  • Examine the appliance frequently for signs of wear or damage. If there are such signs or if the appliance has been misused or does not work, contact the supplier for further information.
