Configuring a Machine to Run Directory Server
Directory Server should be installed on a computer that is isolated from the public
Internet by a network-level firewall. This is necessary to protect the operating
system from IP-based attacks.
No other network functions should be provided by this computer. The computer
should not be dual-booting or run other operating systems. At a minimum, the
computer system should have at least 256 MB of RAM, 16 B of disk, a Pentium II or
later processor, and a 100 MBps Ethernet connection.
