IBM posts leadership 2-processor blade score on SPECjbb2005 benchmark
May 28, 2008 ... IBM® BladeCenter® HS21 XM, using IBM Java
6 Runtime Environment,
achieved a leadership 2-socket blade result of 310,028 SPECjbb2005® business operations per
second (SPECjbb2005 bops) and 77,507 SPECjbb2005 bops/JVM, running SPECjbb2005 (Java
Business Benchmark), SPEC's benchmark for evaluating the performance of servers running
typical Java applications.
The HS21 XM was configured with the Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor E5450 at 3.00GHz
with 12MB L2 cache (2 chips/8 cores/4 cores per chip), 16GB of memory, IBM Java 6, and
Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition SP1. (1)
The HS21 XM's score demonstrates the highest performance achieved to date by a 2-processor
blade server, surpassing the score of 302,089 SPECjbb2005 bops of the Dell PowerEdge M600,
which ran BEA JRockit® 6.0, and used the Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor X5460 at 3.16GHz.
BladeCenter HS21 XM blade servers, coupled with the BladeCenter chassis, deliver advanced
application serving with performance, power efficiency, and scalability ideal for enterprise
