  • Page 4 By default, the EKM server does not start automatically when the host is rebooted. The user must configure this feature. For more information, see the Dell PowerVault Encryption Key Manager User's Guide available on the Dell Support website at support.dell.com.
  • Page 5 During normal backup application operation, the application sends a Prevent Allow to the library. The purpose of this command is to avoid changes that confuse the backup application. When the user attempts to move/export media via the library RMU, the library displays a No resource selected error message.

  • Page 8 To set up a redundant EKM server: Select a second server to host the redundant EKM. Install the EKM application following the instruction in the Dell PowerVault Encryption Key Manager Quick Start Guide. NOTE: The secondary EKM settings must be the same as the original EKM.
  • Page 9 • Linux operating system can intermittently experience EKM GUI window freezes When the EKM application is running in a Linux operating system, the EKM GUI window can intermittently freeze. There are no adverse affects to the EKM server or host. It is recommended to exit the GUI when it is not in use to avoid the problem.
