  • Page 7 INSTALLATION Continued INSTALLING APPLIANCE ASSEMBLY WARNING: If installing in a sunken fireplace, special care is needed. You must raise the fireplace floor to allow access to appliance control panel. This will insure adequate air flow and guard against sooting and con- trols being damaged.
  • Page 8 INSTALLATION Continued For propane/LP units, the installer must supply an external regulator. The external regulator will reduce incoming gas pressure. You must reduce incoming gas pressure to between 11 and 14 inches of water. If you do not reduce incoming gas pres- sure, regulator damage could occur.
  • Page 9 INSTALLATION Continued CHECKING GAS CONNECTIONS WARNING: Test all gas piping and connections, internal and external to unit, for leaks after installing or servicing. Correct all leaks at once. WARNING: Never use an open flame to check for a leak. Apply a noncorrosive leak detec- tion fluid to all joints.

    INSTALLATION Continued PRESSURE TESTING APPLIANCE GAS CONNECTIONS 1. Open equipment shutoff valve (see Figure 8, page 9). 2. Open main gas valve located on or near gas meter for natural gas or open propane/LP supply tank valve. 3. Make sure control knob of appliance is in the OFF position.
