    PRODUCT FEATURES OPERATION This vent-free fireplace insert is clean burning. It requires no outside venting. There is no heat loss out a vent or up a chimney. Heat is generated by both realistic flames and glowing embers. When used without the blower, the fireplace insert re- quires no electricity making it ideal for emergency backup heat.

Installing fireplace insert next to vinyl or cloth wall coverings or operating fireplace insert where impurities (such as, but not limited to, tobacco smoke, aromatic candles, cleaning flu- ids, oil or kerosene lamps, etc.)

Use pipe of 1/2" diameter or greater to allow proper gas volume to fireplace insert. If pipe is too small, undue loss of volume will occur.
  • Page 14 INSTALLATION Continued 3. Route gas supply line through access open- ing of fireplace insert (see Figure 15). NOTICE: Most building codes do not permit concealed gas con- nections. A flexible gas line is provided to allow accessibility from the fireplace (see Figure 16). The flexible gas supply line con- nection to the equipment shutoff valve should be accessible.

Pressurize supply piping system by either open- ing propane/LP supply tank for propane/LP gas or opening main gas valve located on or near gas meter or using compressed air.

    INSTALLATION Continued 3. Install gas piping to fireplace location. This installation includes an approved flexible gas line (if allowed by local codes) after the equip- ment shutoff valve. The flexible gas line must be the last item installed on the gas piping. See Installing Gas Piping to Fireplace Loca- tion, page 12.

  • Page 18 INSTALLATION Continued OPTIONAL WIRELESS HAND-HELD REMOTE CONTROL ACCESSORIES (GHRCB and GHRCTB) Installing Remote Receiver Unit 1. Disconnect switch wires from the control valve. 2. Remove screws attaching switch plate. 3. Remove switch plate (see Figure 26). Discard after removing. 4. Install remote receiver unit onto gas log heater base using mounting clips.

If needed, keep pressing ignitor button until pilot lights. Note: If pilot does not stay lit, contact a qualified service person or gas supplier for repairs.

    OPERATING FIREPLACE INSERT Continued Auto Shutoff Feature 1. If the average room temperature exceeds 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 degrees Centi- grade), the hand-held remote control will perform a safety override and shut the fire- place off. This feature is not available in the MANU mode.
